Globally and across disciplines, PhD students experience alarmingly high rates of developing mental health issues. The Max Planck Society and the University of Cologne provide several layers of support to improve mental wellbeing of our PhD students.
If you need help in resolving problems that impact on your mental wellbeing, the MPS’s Employee and Manager Assistance Program (EMAP) offers free support by telephone, online, or in person. More information is available in the MAX Intranet.
The Kölner Studierendenwerk offers free and fully confidential psychological counselling to all PhD students at the University of Cologne.
The University of Cologne maintains a network of counselling centers to support PhD students in a wide variety of areas such as diversity, discrimination and equal opportunities.
