How is the distribution of chromosomes at meiosis I controlled?

Meiosis is an essential stage in the life cycle of sexually-reproducing organisms. A few key features distinguish meiosis from mitosis, including the co-segregation of sister chromatids at meiosis I, which is unique to meiosis. In this project, we aim to use genetic screens and advanced microscopy to understand the mechanisms that ensure proper distribution of chromosomes at meiosis I.

The project will be supervised by Raphael Mercier at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research.
