Miltos Tsiantis new director of Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research

May 31, 2012

Miltos Tsiantis from Oxford University, UK, has accepted an offer from the Max Planck President, Peter Gruß, to develop a new Department at our Institute in Cologne with a focus on the evolution of developmental mechanisms. Miltos has pioneered molecular research work on Arabidopsis thaliana relatives and has developed Cardamine hirsuta as mature experimental system for comparative functional studies of inter-species trait diversification such as leaf geometry. Another active research area of Miltos involves mathematical modeling of developmental traits on the basis of genetic networks.

Miltos will start his activities in Cologne as of July 1st 2012 and will begin to relocate his current laboratory from Oxford during the next few weeks. I am sure all of you will warmly welcome Miltos Tsiantis in Cologne and will assist him in developing his future activities at our Institute.
