Programmes for Schools

We invite you to experience science first-hand, ask questions, and engage in conversation with our researchers.

Curious about what plant research looks like today?

This page is for students and teachers who would like to take a look behind the scenes at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research – either by visiting us on site or by bringing our scientists directly into your classroom.

Guided Tour of our Institute

How is new knowledge about plants generated? What questions drive our researchers? And what does a modern greenhouse look like from the inside?

School classes are welcome to visit the MPIPZ accompanied by a teacher.

Our guided tour (approx. two hours) includes

  • an introductory presentation on the institute’s structure and research
  • exciting insights into current research projects – presented by one of our scientists
  • a tour of our campus, including greenhouses and laboratories

During the summer months, visitors can also explore our show garden, where research comes to life.

Duration: approx. 2 hours

Costs: free of charge

Booking: To arrange an appointment, please contact us at pr@mpipz.mpg.de

  • answer questions about research, studying, and scientific careers

The focus is on direct interaction. Students are encouraged to ask questions, join the discussion, and gain authentic insights into everyday research life.
