Trust in Science – Trust in NGTs
Together with scientists from many European nations, MPIPZ scientists stand up for new genomic techniques (NGTs), asking the EU Parliament to vote YES for new NGT regulations prior to the Parliaments voting.
As of 7 February, the EU Parliament has now voiced support for easing the regulations, advocating for the adoption of new methods, such as the CRISPR gene-editing technology, in the future.
Gene editing technology hold promise in enhancing plant resistance, thereby reducing the necessity for pesticides in crops and fostering a more sustainable agriculture.
With the parliament's vote concluded, the EU member states are currently engaged in negotiating the legislation.
