Job offer from March 09, 2023
The Max Planck Genome Centre at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research (MPIPZ) in Cologne is seeking a Scientist or Engineer in Genomics (m/f/d) to work in a state-of-the-art genomics, transcriptomics and cell sorting service group providing its service to several Max Planck Institutes.
The successful applicant is expected to implement new pipelines and protocols in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) using long- and short-read technologies (Pacific Biosciences, Oxford Nanopore Technologies, Illumina) and to expand the method repertoire for low-input and single-cell applications. The applicant is expected to have strong communication skills and to be team oriented. We are looking for a candidate with wet-lab experience and an enhanced interest in robotics and automation. Additional bioinformatic skills in e.g. high-throughput data analysis are a plus, but not a pre-requisite.
We offer a state-of-the-art scientific environment with the opportunity to develop and deepen skills in genomics and transcriptomics. We expect from the successful applicant to contribute innovative non-standard solutions to genomics- and transcriptomics-related questions.
Fluent written and spoken communication in English is essential, and German would be advantageous.
We seek a creative, flexible and highly motivated candidate with a PhD or MSc in the life sciences or a Biotechnologist who has prior experience in genomics. Experience working in a sequencing facility or other high-throughput service centre would be advantageous. The position is initially available for two years with a possibility of extension and with an approximate starting date of May 2023. Payment and benefits are according to German TVöD.
Please send your application including CV and name of at least two academic referees as a single PDF through the online system by latest April 7th 2023.
