- Graduated with First Class Honours in Microbiology
1981 - 1984 Edinburgh University, Department of Molecular Biology, Ph.D. with Professor Neil Willetts. Awarded a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology in December 1984
- Title of thesis: The transposable elements and conjugation system of the IncN plasmid R46

Post-Doctoral Experience
